Mid Las Vegas Strip
While the north and south ends of the Las Vegas strip have their charms, many Vegas visitors want to be right in the center of the action. The Mid Las Vegas Strip, which is the stretch between Spring Mountain Road and Flamingo Road, is home to the most condensed group of casinos on the Strip so it is easy to visit many properties on foot.

Treasure Island and the Mirage, just to the south, are two casino hotels that use free attractions that can be viewed from the Strip to attract customers making this a very popular area. Sirens of TI is the Treasure Island nightly show in which young, rather scantily clad women (the sirens) defend their territory against the enemy pirates who attack from a second full size ship. Viewers start jockeying for position well in advance of show time to watch the lovely ladies mock battle with the handsome pirates in a show that includes lots of posing and some impressive pyrotechnics. Mystere Las Vegas is a Cirque du Soleil® performance happening at Treasure Island several times a week.
The Song, the Sirens’ ship in Siren’s Cove, does double duty during the day as a unique wedding venue with rings delivered by a pirate descending from the crow’s nest. Accommodations at Treasure Island include guest rooms, and a variety of suites (petite to penthouse plus honeymoon suite).
A tropical theme whose centerpiece is a 54-foot volcano erupting every fifteen minutes spewing smoke and fire 100 feet into the air is just part of what makes the Mirage different from other Strip casino hotels. The Mirage has plenty of guest rooms and full casino, of course, but there is much more including two of the best swimming pools (one Bare) in Las Vegas, an Aquarium which spans the length of the front desk and a lush indoor garden atrium. Siegfried and Roy’s Dolphin Habitat and Secret Garden is where you can view beautiful striped white tigers, snow-white tigers, white lions, cheetahs, black panthers, snow leopards, and an Asian Elephant. Love™ is a Cirque Du Soleil performance of The Beatles music at the Mirage.
The third casino hotel on this side of the Strip in this section covers the largest amount of ground primarily because of the included shops. By contrast there are six properties on the other side in the space of three on the west. This replica of ancient Rome has long been a favorite with visitors to Las Vegas since 1966, and it is a great place to stay, dine and of course gamble. Animated statues are a must see for any first time Vegas visitor. Entertainment has always been a priority at Caesars Palace. In 1989 Robby Knievel, son of Evel Knievel, successfully made a motorcycle leap over Caesar’s fountains—one that nearly killed his father in an unsuccessful attempt twenty years earlier. In tribute to heavyweight Boxing Champion Joe Louis, who was the hotel’s greeter/host for many years, a bronze statue in his honor stands in the casino. The shopping is first rate at the Forum Shops, with many major designers and jewelry makers well represented with more than 160 boutiques and shops as well as 13 restaurants and specialty food shops.
Venetian & Palazzo
The Palazzo and Venetian Casino Resorts are closely related, and physically connected. The Sands Expo and Convention Center is used for conventions booked by the two hotels and for overflow from the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Palazzo opened at the beginning of 2008 utilizing an underground parking garage because of limited lot size. The hotel features European ambiance with over 3,000 all-suite rooms, a spa (shared with the Palazzo), theater, Lamborghini showroom, a number of restaurants and over 1,000 square feet of gaming space. The Venetian Las Vegas provides a taste of Venice in the desert with winding canal for gondola rides, elaborate frescos, Italian-inspired eateries, luxury accommodations featuring Italian marble and Grand Canal Shoppes. Madame Tussauds celebrity experience wax museum at the Venetian may be the only place you’ll have a chance to sing with Elvis, play golf with Tiger Woods, to marry George Clooney or to pose with many other famous people.
Casino Royale gets consistently high reviews for its lower than typical prices for rooms and drinks, its easy parking, casino fun and friendly staff. If you don’t come to vegas for luxury accommodations this could be the hotel for you as its location in the center of the Strip puts you right in the middle of the action. If you like to hang out at the pool a lot you’ll probably want to try one of the higher priced hotels.
Harrah’s Hotel and Casino is another moderately priced hotel in the middle of the Strip. In addition to what used to be one of the larger casinos in Las Vegas, Harrah’s sports a Carnaval Court Bar & Grill with performing bartenders and shopping. More than 2,500 rooms, late-night adult review Skintight, Improve Comedy Club, and eight dining options complete the package.
The Wildlife Habitat—a free exhibit of exotic birds and fish—is a popular attraction at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. If your pocketbook and lifestyle support it the Hilton Grand Vacations Club at the Flamingo offers luxury and amenities including a courtyard view of the Wildlife Habitat with its 3,000 palms and live flamingos.
